Finally Friday - Trip the Light Fantastic

Fire
Neon
Japanese gardens

More Japanese Garden area. I don't even have pictures of the best part. When you first entered the gardens, they had a zillion little green dots of light. It looked like fireflies. Fog machines spewed mist over the ponds and the lighting fragmented. Truly ethereal.

If there's a Lightscape production at any gardens near  you at any time- buy tickets and go. Well worth the trek.

Whatever Wednesday - Oh the Lights

Enjoyed the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens Lightscape in December. Ray and I took our time strolling through the magical showcase. Gave Ray too many ideas. I did say it's cheaper to pay admission here, then to try to recreate it in our own backyard.
Our ladders don't reach high enough
The lights were fantastic in the wooded areas

More to come in another post.  Frankly, I felt sorry for families hauling kids in wagons through the course. The kids lacked interest - they just wanted  to play with the light-up  candy cane swords the parents bought at concession  stands.

Ray and I could  take our time, stop and look up and back for all the views and color changes.

We were the true kids at heart.

Finally Friday - Lightscape Magic

On Thursday January 5th, Ray and I tripped the lights fantastic and walked the trails at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens
This special Lightscape exhibit ran from Thanksgiving through the first week of January. I was excited to get tickets and we had a gorgeous evening - 60s and calm.
There were some Christmas displays and music, but my favorite part was the nature lighting. Trees looked like otherworldly sculptures
Just so cool

The Japanese Gardens proved mystical with huge lighted lily pads

This was a magical night.

Enjoy your weekend folks. Hope you find some magic.

Wednesday Whatever - Botanic Garden Fun

That time of year - a stroll at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. I met up with my friend Trish on a gorgeous Thursday - perfect temps, no wind. A miracle day. And the flowers did not disappoint.
This snowball tree is SO full.
Pensive moment
Special theme throughout - It's a Bug's Life.   Creepy good
Watch out for the web.

After our hour long walk, we went to Lucille's, a Fort Worth restaurant institution. Lunch lobster roll. No we aren't in Maine, but dang, they know how to do it right. We had a splendid day.

Whatever Wednesday

The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens has a conservatory. Enjoy these exotic flowers and plants as we have a whatever Wednesday.
Hope your week is blossoming
Take a moment and appreciate the intricacies of this plant
Look for a pop of color as you stroll through the week

On a more serious note - Maria Ressa, co-founder and CEO of the news site Rappler in the Philippines, won the Nobel Peace Prize. She was convicted of  "cyber libel"  by her government last year, and has been unable to travel abroad. Hopefully she can get a flight to Oslo for the ceremony.

She says after the 10th anniversary of Rappler - It just shows the role that journalists play. Without facts, you can't have truth. Without truth, you can't have trust. How can you have democracy without that? This the fabric that holds us together: shared reality.

Words to ponder on a Wednesday.
