Finally Friday - new home, new season, new friends

Chris and Krystal just signed on to their first new home - very exciting for them.  The place is lovely and they have years to enjoy, decorate, and create memories.
Opening Day tailgate - Ray style.  We actually bought sandwiches from Jersey Mike's and enjoyed our lunch in this parking  lot.  Arrived at the ballpark at 2 pm, didn't leave until victory in the 10th inning at 10 pm.  Whew!  Long  day
NO we did not eat this Triple Play Boomstick - that's a lot of calories right there and it's expensive too.
Extra fun being the World Series Champions 2023
And these mermaids are out of the water and eating at Ole Enchiladas.  Yes, this is my water aerobics crew - Debbie, Elayne, and Claudia.  I'm on the front right.  Fun times and we could talk without treading water.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Finally Friday - Cute Kids

Spring break in Texas.  No, we did not attend a glamping event, but pictures were sent for us to admire. Sounded like they had a lot of fun.  This is younger son Kevin's crew -  Dakota, Skylar, wife Maria, and eldest Makyla
Dakota has her style

They were with another family. Nice boys and yes, Makyla and Will are "dating".  Puppy love - aw.....

I'm proud of Kevin and Maria for giving these girls experiences.  They spend time, have adventures, and truly enjoy their girls.  It gives me fond memories of my childhood - not a spring break, but summer time trips.  Or a weekend when my mom hauled out the PA guidebook and we'd find a historical home to visit.  Lots of history within a short drive.   Aaah...memories.

So, hooray. I'm happy to report that there are parents  that still travel with their kids, stay off their phones (except to send some cute pics!), and really do stuff - hike , camp, cook  s'mores.

Finally Friday

 Can you hear that?

Yep - it's laughter and everybody talking at once.   My PA gang - ladies I've know forever and we pick up where we left off.  During 2020 we held our zoom book clubs and chats regularly.

I've known some since junior high, others high school, and two others since college.

Can't wait to see them all, give big hugs, start talking,  and seemingly never stop.

Can you hear it?   Sheer joy, friendship, and LOVE.

Friday Flicks

I'm in Philly visiting Dad, so I just scheduled some silly fun filler for Friday.  Since I do love the movies, and shall probably come back with a review of something I'll see with Dad, let's just read some quotes about films today.

Pictures are for entertainment, messages should be delivered by Western Union - Samuel Goldwyn

For me the cinema is not a slice of life, but a piece of cake - Alfred Hitchcock

Good movies make you care, make you believe in possibilities again - Pauline Kael

I've got this preoccupation with ordinary people pursued by larger forces - Stephen Spielberg

Happy Friday all.  Fingers crossed I make it back aboard a plane tomorrow and fly to DFW to be greeted by Ray's shining face. Enjoy your weekend.

Friday Filler

Yes, I'm killing time during Christmas week.  I'm actually working quite hard. Omega is a test lab and folks who didn't get their testing done this year ship everything and need it done fast.  C'mon folks - it's called "planning".  Sigh. Nothing has changed in over ten years. Nothing ever will.

Meanwhile - for those seeking amusement....
Ray was ready for his company luncheon.....not an ugly sweater winner, but still.....
such an elf!

Friday Filler - McPhee

Read a blurb that struck me and I'll share in a Friday Filler

John McPhee, an accomplished writer in his 80s just published his 30th book. Time Magazine did an interview article with him (issue December 17, 2018) that I found quite interesting and amusing. He's modest and not one for public relation pushes.

"A writer grows on the volume of what the writer writes. People standing around, over drinks, talking about writing, isn't writing. Writing is where you go off on your own, close the door, and fight it out with the blank screen or paper. That's the number 1 teacher."

When he teaches, he requires students to submit an outline on everything.  "Sooner or later, you have to have a sense of structure, or all you've got is a bowl of spaghetti."

Food for thought, all my writer friends.

Cheers and TGIF!
