Finally Friday - Tulip Time

Every year, every spring, I MUST post tulips pictures and more from the Dallas Arboretum.

so glorious.  My friend, Linda  T., and I strolled the grounds, viewed the beauty, enjoyed lunch in the cafe, and embraced nature.  It's a tad early, but still wonderful.

Pretty planters
Don't look too closely.  We had some CRAZY winds roll through the area, and I could tell that some of the garden areas had been blasted.
But those striped tulips popped!!
Eye candy,  my friends.  Now, enjoy your weekend.  You,  too, shall have some spring flowers soon

Cheers

Monday Moments - A variety

So, it's February 7th and our darn tulips are choosing  to  appear.  Say what?  I planted the bulbs early December per instructions.  Alas, I did not cover them and squirrels dug up a bunch.  After cold, rain, and now extremely warm weather (80s), tulips are appearing.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I  wanted tulips to appear in late March.   Now I'm afraid of the freeze predicted later in  February.

Stupid Texas weather. Yes,  it's climate change.  WTF

Pre-Valentine's treat.  Toast is a tribute band  for Bread.  Remember soft rock in  1971?  Sorta sissy tunes, but very hummable, sweet, and  yes so lovely?  If,  I Wanna Make it with you, Everything I Own, Guitar Man, and so  much more.   Well, Ray and I enjoyed the tribute band, Toast, at Arlington Music Hall.  Tight band, good  tunes, and the voices were great.    The lead singer truly did a good job. Hard to be as ethereal and airy as lead singer David Gates, but he did an admirable job.  Ray and I could relive memories of the 1970s.   Old fart concert  - damn good.

Ha!  Yes, even if they are beyond a ridiculous price, I will support the Girl  Scouts.  Thin  Mints  are the only way to go.  And I stick them in  the freezer.  And I shall attempt to control myself from eating  a whole sleeve because they are GOLD.

What's your flavor  downfall?

Whatever Wednesday - Easter Prep

I quickly shoved St. Patrick shamrocks into a bin to make way for Peter Cottontail.  March winds are blowing, and the Easter bunny is getting ready to hop a trail.
Spring is popping out in PA - forsythia from a past visit
And it's tulip fest at the Dallas arboretum

This is a past fun Easter display.  Ray is currently working on a jigsaw puzzle at this table. I need to find other space for Easter decor.

Happy Wednesday.  Hope spring is peeping around your corner.  Or our TX temps have indicated a complete surge into summer.  Yikes!   Chocolate eggs will melt - must eat quickly. Darn the bad luck.

Fabulous Friday Flowers

Spring is popping at the Dallas Arboretum
Even after some wicked windstorms, the flowers prevailed
My friend, Linda, and I enjoyed this Sunday stroll on March 5th.
Just warms the soul

Hope your Friday and weekend are fabulous.   (and Happy St. Patrick's Day today!)

Frivolous Flower Friday

Me, Evelyn, and Linda - our spring trek to the Dallas Arboretum last Sunday. Glorious day amidst a bounty of color
They plant 500,000 tulips for their spring festival

The grounds are spectacular. This is truly one of my favorite places in the whole North Texas area.

Spring has sprung.  Happy Easter Weekend!

Monday Moment - aah, spring

Sunday March 19th Ray and I went to the Dallas Arboretum - one of my favorite places on this planet.  We are having a very early spring with a week ahead of 80 degree weather. The tulips are almost past their prime. Glad we could visit and see them

Absolute bliss.  And I know this is rotten, when my Dad and family are all chipping away at ice and dirty snow piles in PA.  Hey, it will come back to bite us in August with over 100 degree temps.

Meanwhile, we smile and use sunscreen.  Spring.......sings

You can't go wrong with a Sunday morning stroll at the Dallas Arboretum. What a splendid day.

Triumphant Tulips

Not much to say. The Dallas Arboretum spring spectacular does its talking with flowers. I'm working up some haiku or poems, but for now, today's stroll shall suffice.

Whew! Spring
Tulips tower power

Wordless Wednesday - well, nearly

Sun is shining brightly today and there's a hint of spring in the air. It teases us. By the weekend, back to rain and temps in the 40s. Here are some best of shots from past springs at the Dallas Arboretum.

This year's spring festival begins March 6. I'm ready for some tulip frenzy and haiku inspiration. Pen is poised.

When do you have too many flower pics?

Can you ever really have too many flower pictures? Here's more shots from last weekend's trek to the Dallas arboretum. So much material to work with, it's flowers on steroids.
I liked these two hardy souls.

The Arboretum theme is Storybooks. Hmmm - Dr.Seuss "One Fish, Two Fish..." I've read this a thousand times to Abigail and she never tires of the rhyme, nor do I. It becomes almost pathological.

Gotta root for the cactus. Hardy and almost belligerent. Domineering in its environment.
Are you tired of haiku? I'm not, though I might wear out my fingers counting syllables.
should learn flower names
bask in bountiful purple
bell shaped loveliness
Joanne
P.S. I'm still jacking with the tile contractor and the pool's still green. The zen of the arboretum keeps me from being crazy. I need to return when the azaleas go berserk.

I wasn't going to write a thing.........

A friend, Linda T., and I succumbed to the beauty of the Dallas Arboretum. It was a tad gray outside, but it wasn't windy. Hence, tulips were not flying off the stems as we strolled the property. Glorious color, fabulous fields of 450,000 bulbs. These folks are insane in their plantings. It is poetry.

So, I wasn't going to write a thing......but here's a haiku I wrote a few weeks ago. Must share with the world.
