this time of year

mom and dad whisper

say "Get out of here."

I won't look in the closet

it is tempting, I say

but I'm on Santa's good list

and I want to stay that way

rustle of bags

buckets of bows

yummy smells from the kitchen

Christmas star glows

excitement builds

we hum holiday songs

wish for peace on earth

all year long
