A to Z Challenge: Vanquish with a V name

Shrinking Violets?  Victorious Victors?   Nope - not listed in 1920s or 2010s

Let's lend some Voracious V names to girls and boys

Gals:
Valborga (Swedish) powerful mountain and protecting ruler
Valentina (Latin) one who is vigorous and healthy
Valma (finnish) a dedicated protector
Vedi (Sanskrit)  filled with wisdom
Vida (latin/Hebrew) one who is dearly loved
Vulpine (English) a cunning woman
Vyomini (Indian) a gift of the divine

Guys:
Vadar (Dutch)  a fatherly man
Vagas (Spanish) from the meadow
Valente (Italian) he is valiant
Vandy (Dutch) a wanderer
Vibol (Cambodian) a man of plenty
Vulcan (latin) god of fire

Variety abounds in the letter V. The names have not Vanished

  1. Not many 'V' names for any of the years, huh? Lucky me I had an aunt Viola who loved violets. I think Vulcan has potential and of course for romance Valente.

  2. Voracious--how's that for a character name? Might make for an interesting story...

    1. I like Voracious, and if that person is rather meek and mild. Often names are opposite of personality.

  3. I like Vincent - but I am an Entourage fan, so there you go.

Violet or just V for a girl sounds cool

  4. I'm glad you weren't hanging around with our son and DIL giving them ideas when they were coming up with names for their kids. They came up with unusual names on their own. (Like Persephone.)

    Happy weekend!

  5. Vadar means fatherly man... I wonder if that's why Darth Vadar was so called, and whether the big reveal wasn't such a surprise in Holland?
