Big twist on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with current pop tunes to help the tale. Basically Anne is not happy with the ending to her husband Will's latest play. Options and rewrites are explored.
Rachel Simone Webb (Juliet) was stunning - gorgeous young lady with a fabulous voice. The whole cast was tremendous. The songs (example - Larger Than Life, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely, Oops...I Did It Again, and so many more) applied well to the situations that Juliet explored.
Just a clever take on an old love tragedy. The audience left the theater smiling. Sunday matinees are THE best.
I saw this on Broadway with my daughter a few years ago. I thought it was charming! We just saw Funny Girl in Boston (Sunday Matinee!). It was enjoyable although the venue had issues with the sound, so we struggled to understand every other word. Hope you are well, Joanne.
ReplyDeleteAll good here. I just love musicals. Fair Park Hall in Dallas fixed their sound issues a few years ago. Makes all the difference.

Hi Joanne - this sounds fun ... and great you're able to take advantage of these productions ... wish I was there - but I did get to an exhibition and an informative series of short films on life in SA early in the 1950s onwards. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYou inspire me with your lectures, etc. There’s plenty to see and do here. Just have to make the effort.

ReplyDeleteVery upbeat!
DeleteYou are doing some really cool things! This sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteThere’s a nice variety in the area. And all within 30 minutes or so. That helps! Hope you are doing okay and have a good spring.
