A to Z Challenge - Dread

Dread

return from vacation
loose limbed lope
tightens, shoulders hunch
stomach rumble
heartbeat hassle

clock watching witness
time now stands still
folders piled haphazardly
pink urgent notes jumbled
amidst post-it-note reminders

meetings scheduled, teleconference
turmoil, gossip train rolls over
relaxation memory
stiff collar irritates fading sunburn
soul trapped until next vacation

elation

  1. Can imagine the dread very well, been in this situation too many times. Here from the A-Z, and enjoyed the word splash

  6. You captured the return to work after vacation perfectly. It's alarming how stress affects us physically. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's elation. :)

  7. Oh yes...when I worked in an office that was exactly how I felt. Now I work from home...but I still sorta dread the workload that comes pouring in when I return!

  8. My husband experienced this yesterday. Poor guy. The kids have it easy...no homework or mountains of work waiting on them.

  11. Just be thankful for the Pink Posts It Notes and NOT a PINK SLIP like the one I got last week announcing the end of my employment in June. My elation? I'll be getting a Staycation and a chance for some sun...no burn, tho!

  13. You described it so well after returning from vacation; and why do vacation times go by so fast and work weeks so slow?

  14. You are so clever linking that last thought to the following poem and I know exactly where you're coming from on returning to a pile of work sometimes makes you wonder why you went on holiday!!!
