Here in Texas, kids are back to school now. The summer freedom of just hitching a ride on a big kid shoulders is over. It's trudging with backpacks in the continued heat.
It's Labor Day week which now means "Yea, I'm still retired and doing what I want week."
Beaches are cleared of crowds. Now's the time to go!
Hi Joanne - I try and avoid going out much in the holiday times - too much push and shove, or inane things happening - I don't need it. As you say we can do what we want, when we want - enjoy Autumn - cheers Hilary
Ooh, I wish I could hit the beach with you. The nearest beach is hours away. But I can drive to many a nice, relaxing spot with some water. Fall is always welcome.
Joanne Faries, originally from the Philadelphia area, lives in Texas with her husband Ray. She considers herself fortunate to be able to pursue a writing career after eons in the business world. Joanne enjoys reading and movies, and is the film critic for the Little Paper of San Saba.
Yup! We never vacation during the summer. We wait until fall or very early spring so there are far fewer people.
ReplyDeleteThat’s the smart way to go. Plus weather is less extreme ( or at least it was).

ReplyDeleteHope your temperatures are pleasant now. You’ve had a hot summer. I’ve always been a fall person. Enjoy yours.

Alas. The TX beach is a far drive. Growing up in PA, it was only 2 hours. We’ll just have to dream it.
DeleteHappy fall.
