Friday Flicks

I'm in Philly visiting Dad, so I just scheduled some silly fun filler for Friday.  Since I do love the movies, and shall probably come back with a review of something I'll see with Dad, let's just read some quotes about films today.

Pictures are for entertainment, messages should be delivered by Western Union - Samuel Goldwyn

For me the cinema is not a slice of life, but a piece of cake - Alfred Hitchcock

Good movies make you care, make you believe in possibilities again - Pauline Kael

I've got this preoccupation with ordinary people pursued by larger forces - Stephen Spielberg

Happy Friday all.  Fingers crossed I make it back aboard a plane tomorrow and fly to DFW to be greeted by Ray's shining face. Enjoy your weekend.

Wordy Wednesday - Debrief

I am having fun shadowing our A - to - Z gang.  I'm following so many - they are listed in my Blog Followings - awesome material all around

Here are just two quotes from the news this past month. Consider this a debrief and commentary.
Interpret as you wish

This can be a very mean-spirited town, but you don't have to choose to participate in that. Each of us gets to choose the person we want to be, and the way  we want to be treated, and the way we will treat others - Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson - farewell speech to the State Department.

(my personal opinion and take - classy dude who could only take so much. He was fired, but left with his head held high)

Y'all can stare at your phones all night, but I pull a book out of my purse and suddenly I'm the anti-social one - North Texas comedian Katy Evans.

(too funny, and too true!)

Happy Wednesday

July Junque: Day 28 Monday Mayhem

When I wrote up this post, I had no idea what transpired over the weekend. However, based on world news these day, I assume some mob stormed something. Let's look at a few quotes about mobs:

A Mob's a Monster. Heads enough, but no brains - Ben Franklin  1747

The mob is man voluntarily descending to the nature of the beast - Ralph Waldo Emerson 1841

A mob is humanity going the wrong way - Frank Lloyd Wright  1958

You shall not follow a multitude to do evil - Moses Exodus 23:2

Mobs must be faced if civilization is to be saved - George Bernard Shaw  1912

July Junque: Day 9

For anyone stumbling upon this blog, I decided to rumble around the junk store that is July. However I classed up the name - adding a "que" gives it some pizzazz. Today we shall contemplate a few quotes on literature courtesy of Wittypedia, edited by Des Machale

The dawn is a term for the early morning used by poets and other people who don't have to get up - Oliver Herford

I have read only one book in my life, and that is White Fang. It's so frightfully good I've never bothered to read another - Nancy Mitford

There are two ways of disliking poetry. One way is to dislike it, and the other is to read Pope - Oscar Wilde.

Always be nicer to writers younger than you, because they are the ones who will be writing about you - Cyril Connolly

Your life would not make a good book. Don't even try - Fran Lebowitz
