Monday Moments - Democracy and Vote

 Tomorrow is election day.  Darn.  It's a bit scary, in my opinion.  I'm writing and doing this for my dad (see above from January 2023)  (he passed in May 2024) who could not vote this year.   But after January 6th 2021, my father asked my brother to get the forms to change his voter registration.  He could no longer stomach the antics of the Republican Party.  I am proud of his choice as a Navy veteran and a man of honor. 

We'll see what happens.  Alas, because of so much disruption, we probably will not have an outcome tomorrow night.  And that's sad, ridiculous, and (to me) not America.

Monday Election Eve - Vote

Tuesday , November 6, 2018 is another Election Day.  We are fortunate in America. The dates are set for elections - it's not random, it's not willy-nilly, it's not after one group dissolves, and others are formed. It's very regular and we get to choose.

Ray and I chose early voting.  We are a "divided" household and, no doubt, "canceled" out our votes. But we did it and we'll still be alive and talking on Wednesday morning.

Today is Monday. I hope you've done the same - early vote, or you'll be stopping at the polls on Tuesday between 7 am and 7 pm to give your vote, your opinion, and exercise your freedom.

Soul Sucking Super Tuesday

I did early vote and I'm posting my sticker upside down as a sign of voter distress. Texas is part of the Super Tuesday hoopla - big delegate counts, etc.

I'm afraid for the results. Has America lost its mind?   For my blog friends living abroad - yes, there is reason for concern. I can't begin to explain what is going on. It boggles the mind

Somehow the "system" should work. Everyday life keeps churning and among my friends, there is a sense of disbelief as to what all of these other Americans are doing or thinking.

I try to stay away from politics on my blog, or I speak in generalities. I am not good at debate.

I will say I would like to see courtesy and compromise and common sense

The flag flies, the electricity is on, water runs from the spigot, another "like" is clicked on Facebook.

Vote Early

The polls are open for early voting, so I drove to the Bedford Library today to do my duty. I followed the Vote Acqui signs, and showed my driver's license. With shoulders slumping and a sigh of resignation, I cast my ballot. I wish I could be happier with my choices, not going for lesser of evils.

And the question of evils is based on articles I read. I admit I am shallow and lazy in regards to politics. I don't dig deep into voting records. I am, no doubt, a victim of media bias.

I count on the checks and balances of the "system" to keep things sane, though it sure seems like the inmates are running the asylum.
