In Support

Happy Valentine's Day

I am not a public school teacher, but my sister is one,  as are several friends of mine.

They work hard, have to put up with a lot of crap from kids, administrators, and parents.

Support public education, your schools, and kids. Support reading, libraries, the arts, sciences, any kind of learning. Encourage questions, take time to answer your children, and really listen.
Think about what you say, how you say it, and what it means for kids to hear it.

I always come back to Words Matter

Happy Valentine's Day to my sister Lori and her fellow teachers

  1. I applaud your post, lots of teachers put up with much rudeness from pupils which is at the end of the day uncalled for.

    Have a great Valentine's Day.
    Yvonne.

  3. One of the toughest jobs I think there is, is to be a teacher! I admire them all; something I could not do!

    1. Nor I. Teachers work hard. It is a gift to keep kids interested

  4. And they get so little pay and credit for their efforts.

  5. When I went into teaching, I chose to work with college students for this very reason: I knew the discipline factor would be so stressful in grades 1 through 12. Yet even in a college setting, there were bad moments.

    1. Me too. Yet I was not inspired to be a teacher.

  7. I agree completely. I'm also not a teacher, but I'm married to a school administrator (Head of School Psychologists) and have many friends and relatives who are teachers. They are all heroes. And yes, words definitely do matter.
