A to Z Challenge - Clean

Clean

slate for the new year
but smudges remain, traces linger
I trip over baggage
chunked in the spare room
compartmentalized in the brain
nudged into view by a comment,
an email, or even a song
old friends remember
relatives rehash
laughter muffled as you enter
shush exclaimed as you leave
sideways glances, furrowed brow
keep wiping, make amends
face the year
without

  1. Someone posted this once and I believe it's perfect for this poem: "There was dirt on this Earth when I got here and there will be dirt on this Earth when I'm gone, so why should I move it around while I'm here?!"

  2. Just leave that baggage behind and start anew!

  3. Yes, spring-time does seem to make cleaning re-surface again and nag at us - but here am I leaving a comment on your blog rather than going back in to clean up all the mess I made this morning when trying to search for an elusive letter from my bank!!

  4. Baggage will be with us always I fear.
    Just let it go.
Different baggage will be with us next year.
I think I'm right, you know.

  6. Great poem! The past is always with us in some way, isn't it. No matter how hard we try to put it behind us. The shape of your poem looks like a feather duster to me. :)

  7. I love it! I was just thinking about clutter today and a desperate need to get rid of some! This is perfect, as I was ignoring the mental clutter.
    Happy a-z!

  10. Let it go and roll on...dusting as you go! Good job for letter C...more there than simple cleaning!
