Labor Day Weekend and Anniversary

It's  Labor  Day Weekend.   It's also  our Wedding Anniversary on Monday, September 1

Here's a good photo from two years  ago  in Pensacola

And  a few years ago in Vegas - Ray's my LOVE
Who were these kids?

And thirty six years ago we said "I do" at the justice of the peace

Not sure how  we'll celebrate this year, but through thick and thin, and older and older, we've been laughing.   Ray's my guy.   Happy Anniversary  and thanks  for putting up with ME.

Finally Friday - Anniversary and Labor Day Weekend

If you would be loved, love, and be lovable - Ben Franklin

It will be 35 years of wedded bliss on Sunday, September 1st.    Wow!

The proof  of true love is to be unsparing in criticism - Moliere

"Ray, are you sure that's what you are wearing  today?"     "Hmmm".

I enjoy his sporty stuff.   He's become a museum guy.   You have  to grow  together, but also  have separate hobbies too.  Then you have  fresh stuff  to talk about.  I  truly believe in that.

And you have to find the magic, keep the magic, revere the magic, and laugh together.

Love ya , Ray!!  Thanks  for putting up with me.  And yes, he's put up with a month  of me after rotator cuff surgery.   When you say "for better or worse", this medical  issue is  part  of the  "worse".

Also, Happy Labor Day Weekend to all of my worker bee blog friends who enjoy a three day weekend. When retired, it's just another great weekend!

Cheers  all.

Happy Labor Day Monday

Labor?  What's that?   Am I obnoxious about being retired?  Heck yea!   It's nice to do what I want, when  I want, or just be lazy.  It's great to be able to travel east for a month and hang with my sister at Rehoboth Beach.
Or have lunch with friends in Redbank, NJ after visiting a cool art gallery
This meme can apply at times
Or I can take dad to a very cool car museum.  We had a good summer visit with plenty of laughs. It was nice  to not have  to worry about work or using up vacation time.

And there's the pickleball passion.  Fun game. I took lessons in the spring  at the local college. Now I have a whole new  batch of friends and we play up to three times a week.  Ray's brand new knee works well and he's joined the gang. We do mix up pairings, so I don't think Ray and I need counseling...yet. Actually, we play pretty well together.

And retirement is fun - eat meals when we want, hit a spur of the moment movie, just float in the pool, and sit on the patio and read. Or kick back in a chair and nap  ( I  mean meditate)

Happy Labor Day for those still working. Thank you for your time and efforts. Save those pennies...it's worth it.

Monday Musings - Labor Day Version

Happy Labor Day. I ran late on doing this post because I've been doing the opposite of labor. I've been lazy. Well, my version of lazy - still cleaned house, still mowed the back lawn while Ray did the front, still did laundry, still...you get the drift. But I did not go to work today.

Sunday night holiday night is the best. No alarm set. No planning ahead. Staying up a tad to watch our Dallas Stars hockey team win its first game in the Western Conference final. Also been watching U.S. Open tennis - that's been very interesting this year. Lots of new names - young up and comers with a chance to win.

My other accomplishment this weekend is learning to use my new Water Pik without spraying down myself and the whole bathroom. It's been humorous.

Set the stage: I am left-handed but I always brush my teeth right-handed due to my mother, and how she taught me. Now put a motorized thing squirting water into my right hand. Controlling the switch has been tricky for me. And it jets out surprisingly hard - I guess that's the point to rid the teeth of gunk.

Anyway - I've got it figured out and I have to laugh. I look like I'm five years old - I hold the Pik with both hands and control it that way. Goofy as hell, but I don't have to wear a bathing suit to use it.

Hope everyone is staying well, safe, and wearing that mask as needed. Or if you see me with a Water Pik in my hand, lower that face shield!

Let's zoom into autumn.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is upon us. I hope you all had a great summer. Here's a salute to those who braved air travel

Airline Counter Woes

expectations and brochures
pour over maps
trace paths of imagination
inhale a memory
exhale a moment
fumble for luggage
one piece chose a different flight

lines and lines and lines
to claim loss

inner scream like the two year old who is

Enjoy your weekend and (in theory) the last vestige of summer
