This year our crepe myrtle took its sweet time to build up for mass blooming glory. And then overnight, every bud burst. This is one of the best years ever. I took the picture last Thursday.
Alas, rain and wind this weekend pummels the pink petals. It will be pretty for the rest of the summer, but not spectacular.

DeleteHi Joanne - it looks amazing and you were sensible to get your photo in early ... amazing tree - I've not been aware of them before, I'm sure I've seen them though ... maybe not as they don't grow in South Africa apparently ... beautiful though ... the gardens will enjoy the rain ... cheers Hilary

DeleteOne of my FAVORITE trees...and that color, too! The storm we had last Friday night wiped out blooms all over town. Texas Mother Nature...what can we say, but...whaaaa!!!
