Wednesday Moment

I might be getting a tad punchy, but this cartoon cracked me up during our quarantine phase of life. This is a test of marriage and "I'll try" seems appropriate right now.

My niece was supposed to be married in Charleston on Sunday. It was going to be a grand party weekend with the wedding on a harbor cruise boat. Sounded fun, right?  Then Ray and I were headed on Monday to Folly Beach for a little R&R.  Oh well. No beach, no seagulls, no waves lapping to shore. I'm off to work daily. Then, I'm lucky I can sit on our patio at home and look at our pool. I took a brief plunge this past Friday afternoon - brrr, a bit bracing at 72 F.

Stay sane everyone. Each day, let's just try...

  1. My daughter who lives in Charleston and furloughed is up with me. She keeps tabs on what is going on there, and mentioned that Charleston County is forcing the beaches to open, not that it helps for your niece. We have a family wedding planned in Boston in September, and believe it or not at this time, are beginning to wonder...

    1. Hi - my niece is postponed to September, and I lean towards not going at this juncture. A Whole new perspective. Stay safe and good luck to your family

  2. That's sad that the wedding had to be postponed and that your beach trip had to be canceled. I would be reluctant to go to the rescheduled event too. It doesn't seem worth the risk at this time. The virus is still much too prevalent.

    1. it's funny, I work with younger (30s) guys -they are "over" this. All of my legit friends (my age and older) (i.e. writers, back east, etc) are very wary and cautious.

  6. Hi Joanne - great cartoon ... and how sad about your niece and her future husband not being able to go ahead with their day - and you missing the R+R break. Something else will happen when the family can get together in the Carolinas ... all the best - Hilary

  7. Yes, trying is about all any of us can do these days.

It's a shame your niece's wedding plans had to be changed. Their plans sounded awesome. Ditto your plans to go to Folly Beach for some R&R. That's where we went last year for our 50th anniversary, and it was fantabulous. I hope you get to go there sometime, but, um, maybe not in September. I think if I were your niece, I might forego the big wedding plans and get married in front of a justice of the peace. (Wearing a mask instead of a veil.)

Take care, sweet lady. It's a scary world, and in the midst of the mayhem, I'm glad there is you. Thank you.
