Happy July 4th Weekend

My head almost exploded at the price of fireworks this year. Guess it's been a while since I bought some. But here's our admission to son Kevin's party in the country. Let's count all fingers and toes on July 5th
Old Glory should wave in sunshine this weekend. Weatherman said chance of isolated showers. I don't believe him
Happy Birthday America!   My grubby little fingers have touched the Liberty Bell crack at Independence Hall in Philadelphia back in the day. Now the Bell is behind glass in a separate pavilion. Still very cool to see, and to walk Philly's cobblestone streets of history.

And Mark Twain's good for a quote for July 4th - The modern patriotism, the true patriotism, the only rational patriotism is loyalty to the nation all the time, loyalty to the government where it deserves it.    1905

  1. Since I live so close to Philadelphia, this will be a cool weekend, indeed.
Despite all the depressing news, time to get my "patriot" on!

  2. That Twain quote is terrific! (Smart man, wasn't he?)

I hope you have a super weekend, and emerge with all your fingers and toes intact. (Um...no offense, but YOU aren't gonna light the fireworks, are ya? HA!)

We've had monsoons all day, so there may not be too much in the way of fireworks here. Can't say that it breaks my heart... I'd just as soon watch them on TV. In an air-conditioned house with an adult beverage in my hand.

    Happy weekend!

    1. Let's think - Joanne is not allowed near fire. I'll be in a lawn chair enjoying the show.

  3. Fantastic TWAIN quote!!! Love it that you have touched the Liberty Bell as a little Penn. Patriot. Let's hope Texas Mother Nature holds true to the weatherman's prediction. Your pool and flag look great. Happy July 4th.

  4. Twain was brilliant enough to add "where it deserves it." Yes, we shouldn't love the government blindly. But it sure is time for loyalty and appreciation. Have a fantastic holiday weekend, Joanne.
