My Aunt Jane, Nana, Mom, and Uncle Lee
L to R - Mom, Uncle Lee, Aunt Jane
My father - dapper dude back in the day. No doubt he was driving a car with huge fins
My mom - what can I say - no wonder she hooked my father
So, I've been digging in the the archives - not a lot of history pictures, but this is fun for a Monday moment. What's funny is my dad has shrunk and lost hair, but his face has not changed. He truly looks sorta the same at 86 and still attempts dapper. Fashion pride - it does kill him to not wear fitted slacks and decent shoes these days.
Let's all start the week with some pride - accessorize in some way...or slap on some decent shoes!

Hi Joanne - lovely photos to see ... and haven't we changed. They look so smart and tidy ... and yes your Ma looks so pretty, while your Dad smart as a pin ... love seeing them - thanks Hilary
ReplyDeletethanks. My mom and dad were always super neat people, even when doing chores
DeleteWonderful family photos. I think it is not only fun, but also important to take a look back at our history to see where we've been and how far we've come. I enjoyed seeing these.
ReplyDeletethanks. I enjoy other people's pics too
DeleteAccessorize? What's that? Cat hair? Check lol
ReplyDeleteyep - that counts for you!
DeleteWonderful photo's of your family Joanne.
ReplyDeleteLovely to look back on.
Yvonne.
thanks. long long ago - tough to believe
DeleteMore great pictures! Clothing styles sure have changed a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks, again for posting about Don't Feed the Elephant. That was a great surprise, and I really appreciate it!
Yeah - I'm glad we have the clothing choices and styles of today. But cool to look back.
DeleteAnd happy to support your books. You are a good writer.
I love seeing people's old family photos. Those are great! What state were they taken in?
ReplyDeletethanks. This is in PA (Quakertown) - northwest of Philly
DeleteAs I said, I love old photos - nostalgia fix. Your parents look amazing - your mother especially - so achingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteClothing fashions have changed, and I know it's more practical and all that - but dresses have a grace that can't be matched by anything else.
Hope you're having a great week.
thanks. It's funny. As my mom, she wore slacks and tops all the time. Rarely dressing up by the time she had kids. My grandmothers always wore dresses - house dress and church dress.
DeleteGreat family photos! It's kinda cool that you think of your dad as riding a spiffy car with big fins, but I wonder what he really drove at that time. He only looks to be about 16 in that picture, and there weren't a lot of big-finned cars around in '48.
