or gazing at the sky
or watching the return of
the ducks
returned to hang poolside
as they flew overhead did they notice
weeds in our yard, leaves in the pool
wish we'd clean up more?
non-judgmental, they glide under
diving board overhang, content quacks
settle in sun, afternoon snooze
raise flag for cabana service
to no avail, one last dip
before takeoff, emerald head
glints in cloudless sky

Happy Friday and Weekend and Poetry
I didn't know about !World Poetry Day,
ReplyDeleteOff line yesterday I decided to stay.
So here I am one day late.
So sorry I missed it I can honestly state.
Loved your post Joanne.
Better late than never as they say.
Yvonne.
but every day is poetry in your world. You are a star!
DeleteI loved your poem, lovely lady. Too bad more people aren't as non-judgmental as the ducks.
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend!
exactly. And Ray's working hard (clapping etc) to make sure they don't stay. They are messy guests.
DeleteIf all could be like the ducks, we may be a bit more peaceful.
ReplyDeletethey give that image, but they are messy and demanding.
DeleteLovely photos and poem. I hope you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeletethanks. It's a dreary weekend but I'm enjoying the quiet
DeleteHi Joanne - yes I wondered about your guests ... love the poem though - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteoh these ducks. They are driving Ray nuts.
DeleteYour word choice is thoughtfully descriptive "nonjudgmental," "emerald head, glints in cloudless sky." I floated away with this, very nice.
ReplyDeleteCheers to a good week ahead, Joanne.
thanks. Glad I could bring a peaceful float. You have a good week too
