Monday Moments - Ray had his Day

August 1st was Ray's 70th birthday.  That is worthy of another post.  Here's the birthday king ready to celebrate in front of his picture gallery
 

This very yummy cake from Texas Star Bakery had the pickleball theme - Ray's current obsession. He bought himself a new paddle as his birthday treat.  Look out competition!

Over forty people showed up for the pool  party.  Quite the fun crowd.  Everyone enjoyed pizza, wings, margaritas, beer, and plenty of water.

The Texas heat cooperated - it was 98 or so with a good breeze. We did have  plenty of shade, and folks were inside too - playing games like Scattergories. 

Ray had his Day!  

Happy Birthday Weekend Ray

Saturday August 1st is Ray's birthday.  It's a big one - 70!  Dang! 

He asked for a pool party and you all are invited. 

Happy Birthday Ray!  You don't ask for much, so I hope friends (old - the fantasy baseball dudes you've known now for over thirty years) and new ( pickleball crew), plus family all show up to salute you. 

 It's gonna be a hot one, so we'll have cabanas up for shade and fans blowing. The pool will be typical Texas tepid but wet. 

 Food - Ray's chosen Buffalo Wild Wings and Ti  Amos pizza. The margarita machine will be serving up slushy drinks.    And heck yeah - cake!

Monday Moments - Pickleball, Anyone?

 Happy Monday, everyone.   Ray has a new pickleball partner.  Anybody up for a game?

Tis the season here.  Feeling festive.  We have some projects going on out front (awaiting worker bees), so no decorations.   Then Santa arrived (found him at At Home, on sale) and decided he could wave to everyone for now. 

It's mid-December.  Hope everyone is staying healthy and having some fun... and a Christmas cookie or two. 

Finally Friday - Happy Birthday Ray!

 Today, August 1st is Ray's birthday.   Old enough.  Here he's on  a glacier in Canada.  The  man is always  up for adventure

He's a sports fan of all sorts.  The  Rangers, this year,  are  breaking his heart.  Don't even discuss the Cowboys - ha!

He plays  pickleball (he's got  a wicked  serve!).  Here he's  with me and a friend,  Kathy.  We were all set for the 4th  of July  pickleball festivities. 

And Ray  likes the  beach and  a  big drink at a beach bar. 

Hope it's another year  of fun, surprises, and good cheer.     Love ya, Ray.  Happy Birthday!

Monday Moments - Salsa

 So - Salsa!!!

Did you think dancing?   Ha Ha Ha.   Part  of our wedding agreement 35 years ago involved a no dance policy.  Well, maybe one slow dance.... (yes, I like that)    But there is no choreography involved. 

Salsa in the Faries house means sauce for Tex-Mex.  Oh yeah!  And my sweetie Ray is awesome.  He spent an afternoon with daughter-in-law, Maria, and they created some kick-ass Salsa!

Ray said as they cooked it, the aroma was compelling.  He tasted and it smoldered. 

16 jars later....we have 8 pieces of precious concoction. 

Anyone care to join us for fajitas?   or chips and salsa on the patio?

C'mon!     Hey, even with one arm working, I can dip!

Whatever Wednesday - Ray Reunion Time

 Saturday, June 22nd, Ray trekked out  to east Texas for the 91st annual family reunion.  Here's his group - they are from the Cleo connection.  Many of the other family units boost a lot more  people.  Ray figured there  were over one hundred  people  there for the Sunday BBQ  feast. 

My tradition is  to NOT go - too darn  hot.  The past two  years I did drive Ray's folks for the Sunday meal, so they could  visit.  Last  year was the  official 90th  and that was special.   This year, the heat  was going to be even crazier and the folks mobility has  gone downhill.  

Thus, I had friends  over and floated in our pool for  "Sangria Sunday".   Ray enjoyed all of his cousins, etc.   He did win  the 42 domino tournament.  Rah!   Son Kevin's volleyball team won.  So a good time had  by all.  And Ray had a big card signed by various family members to present  to Ray's folks, so they were thought of  and  remembered. 

Another reunion is on the books. 

Wednesday Whatever - jujitsu, toes, and remember

I did not do an official post on Monday 9-11. It was a day of remembrance, of solemn vows, and it's hard to believe it has been twenty two years.  I am saluting  that day and I do believe this should be taught in school. It is a day of history that was a pivotal turning point for America.  

Meanwhile - here's our future. Two kick butt little girls who did great in  a jujitsu tournament. Skylar on the left got silver. Dakota on the  right got gold.  These are Kevin and Maria's youngest. Well rounded - they do well in school. And they are fearless. 

And here's the joy  that is in America.  Yes - Ray chose a Dallas Cowboy football salute for  this pedicure. We had a fun time with Chris and Krystal. I only got  blue.

Another Year - Happy Birthday Ray

 Happy Birthday Ray!  August 1st.   Scrappy dude with a smile  on his face. He's game for any fun, and always exploring.  We are currently in Pensacola and tomorrow he gets to do some deep sea fishing. Have fun, hubby!  Enjoy your birthday treat. 

As he says, "Older than dirt."  But golfs, does workouts at the YMCA, plays pickleball, takes care of his folks, keeps track of his aunt and the deer lease, ...the list goes on and on.  What can't he do?

He's sweet, funny, kind, and he laughs at my jokes.   'Nuff said.

Friday Frivolity and Mishmash

It's Friday, it's January, here's a mishmash of life from me so far.  

Ray and I finally caught Spider-Man: No Way Home in the theater. It was very fun - a multi-verse conglomeration of Dr. Strange, various villains, and lovely spidey fun with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maquire - great to see them. Marisa Tomei is always a treat as Aunt May. Best of all, Tom Holland exudes such sincerity. I'm not going into plot lines or a big discourse. This is an excellent Marvel movie and superb entertainment on the big screen. 

Well, I've signed up for pickleball at the local college in the senior program. It starts in February. The odds of sucking are high since I'm not the most coordinated person in the world. However, I'm very psyched for the fun and exercise.  And I realize, do not go into this with negativity. I'm being brave. New kid on the senior playground.

How about if you are stuck in the muck on a Sunday afternoon like Kevin in his zoom zoom car? Yes - he did get out thanks to Ray's winch on his RZR. 

We need puddles and rain. And we need more rain. Not a tsunami, not tons of snow. Texas needs rain. We are in drought conditions again and we count on January - April for some of the wet stuff.  Heck, I'll play pickleball in the rain if it's necessary.

Yo Ray - Drives Me Mad - 32 Years

Happy Anniversary Ray.   32 years you have put up with ME.    And I can post this meme because you get the reference.   There's no way I could go digging for some young buck. It would be far too annoying to have to explain super good music, movies, and old TV shows from back when you only watched stuff weekly and then chatted at the water cooler. 

We have SO much fun and we love the State Fair of Texas.   Here we are on the huge Ferris Wheel. It costs a million dollars to ride but it's Tickets - that's like monopoly money. Once you buy tickets, who cares what the value adds up to in dollars. 

He's so cute and will put up with my history excursions.  An old fort, house, museum - heck yeah!!!

And I do sports well.  Cowboys could be stinky, but I'll wear the shirt and sorta cheer (Um, Iggles....maybe)     I can absolutely say Go Stars (ice hockey)   And I can annoy Ray with enough sport references. 

And now we enjoy Ted Lasso on Apple +  yeah for soccer.

Finally Friday - Let his birthday weekend begin - RAY

 I hope Ray's had a grand time while I've been gone for three weeks. Hope he's run amok,  been to Aunt Pat's, drove his RZR, watched plenty of TV, eaten over the sink, and  enjoyed his peace and quiet without me yammering. 

Hello....I'm driving back now from PA and hope to be home by Saturday 7/31.  Fair warning - 

My goal is Sunday birthday celebration for Ray. Cheers to my guy - born on August 1st many moons ago. 

Eat some cake this weekend in his honor.  Or slurp on a big old margarita.
