Book Review - Speaking From the Bones by Alan Bradley

Speaking From the Bones by Alan Bradley is another Flavia De Luce tale. She's eleven years old, but a genius kid who truly knows her chemistry and poisons. The English hamlet  of Bishop's Lacey is about to open the patron saint's tomb, but alas we find the last organist's body in the area. Who killed him? Why and how? Flavia knows how to do detective work and she's small enough to sneak  into tiny spaces.

Meanwhile, her father is failing, the house is falling apart, her sisters are conspiring against her, and some strangers in town may have answers? Or they deserve further questioning.  Bradley serves up a delicious read  full of twists and turns. His heroine is young but worthy of her brain power. Don't count her out on this one. The pages turn and answers come in this delightful read.

Meanwhile some more fun pics from the Neon Museum and our  August adventures in Vegas.
Enjoy the bonus part of this post.

Truly a cool place  to visit.  No gambling or alcohol involved.  Seriously - we got in some more steps!

  1. This book sounds fun! I love the duck (chicken???) at the end. My husband went to Vegas once...didn't gamble a penny. Just went to every casino he'd ever heard of, just so he could say he was there.

    1. thanks. And that's the way to do Vegas. The sights alone keep you busy. It's a crazy place.

  2. Hi Joanne - I prefer your cover than the one I've just seen on that Am net thing! Yes like Liza I'd like to visit once ... and these Neon signs look so much fun ... actually thinking about it I've got a post to do about someone from my school who is neon light creative from Hong Kong ... if I get there! Cheers - enjoy the weekend - Hilary

    1. Vegas is crazy unique. Worth seeing once, for sure. Or every ten years- they do tear down and build new wilder spaces. Neon creation is fascinating.
