Serious fuss here - Ray above and me here in Orange Beach Alabama a few years ago. Sunny beach days, oh so long ago.
Now this week - OMG - the devastation I've seen in pictures from Hurricane Sally - too sad for words
Friday Fuss book review escape - The Fix by David Baldacci - 3rd in the Amos Decker/ Memory Man series is another fun quick read. It has plenty of twists and turns, and lots of heart. By now, you really care about Amos. You know he'll solve the murder mystery - it's the how and the hurt, the memories, and the strain, that keep you hooked.
cover blurb - Amos Decker witnesses a murder just outside FBI HQ. A man shoots a woman execution style on a crowded sidewalk, then turns the gun on himself. The killing is baffling. Enter Harper Brown - an agent for DIA. The murder is part of an open DIA investigation, one so classified that Decker and his team aren't cleared for it. But national security is urgent. An attack may be imminent.
Buckle up for the ride. Stakes are high. Amos Decker's brain is searching, searching for clues and connections. The Fix is in and it's a winner. Enjoy.
A lot of hurricane damage these past few weeks.
ReplyDeleteit looks horrendous. I feel sorry for all the folks affected
DeleteHi Joanne - yes the damage and destruction down south sounds awful, as too the fires ... one just hopes for everyone suffering.
ReplyDeleteThe Fix sounds a great read ... but one day I'll be in the relaxed mode to read his books ... does sound fascinating ... take care and enjoy the weekend - Hilary
the USA is a mess all around.
DeleteBaldacci writes a fun book/series.
Enjoy your weekend too
Very nasy weather indeed Joanne, along with the pandemic hope all will be well soon.
ReplyDeleteTry to enjoy your weekend.
Keep safe and well.
Yvonne.
we are clear skies and nice here - finally cooler. So there is autumn hope
DeleteMike and I were at Orange Beach a few years ago with our son and his family. It would be soooooo cool if you guys were there at the same time. (Alas, I don't remember seeing any park benches there...) You're right about the hurricane damage. It's just horrific.
ReplyDeleteYou called "The Fix" a quick read. Huh. I thought Baldacci's books were really looooong. No? Would you recommend reading the series from the start, or would this one stand alone?
Take care, kiddo, and thank you so much for all of your support. You rock. Have a super weekend.
no benches, just beaches - hopefully not eroded away.
DeleteBaldacci's books aren't crazy long - Took about a week to read. I would start with The Memory Man - that gives you more insight into Amos Decker.
Glad you are around, that's for sure. Take care
A week? I wouldn't call that a quick read. :) To me, a quick read is something I can read in a single sitting. Like "The Godfather." (Of course, that single sitting lasted until the sun darned near came up... :)
Deletekeep in mind, some of us aren't retired. Work takes up a lot of darn time - ugh.
DeleteGood it's a winner. Yeah. There is a lot of damage and we are getting one this coming week. Fun!
ReplyDeleteand a lot churning in the gulf still. 2020 - quite the year
